Barcelona are monitoring the situation of Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta.
The 32-year old is the longest serving first-team player currently6 at Stamford Bridge, but he is in the final eight months of his current contract, and no decision has yet been taken about offering him a new deal.
His contractual situation means that he can begin discussions with foreign clubs when the transfer window opens again in January.
The Catalan club’s current financial situation means that they are largely looking at free agents when it comes to reinforcing their squad under new manager Xavi.
Chelsea, however, might yet be pen to the idea of extending his stary, given that the futures of three others of their defenders, Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva, and Antonio Rüdiger are also up in the air with their own contracts running down.
Azpilicueta has made more than 440 appearances for Chelsea over ten seasons in West London.
