Real Madrid want to sign Chelsea defender Antonio Rüdiger on a free transfer next summer.
The German is in the final year of his current deal at Stamford Bridge, and, although the Premier League club want to extend his stay in West London, it looks increasingly likely to leave he will free with the two sides far apart when it comes to terms.
He has been mentioned in connection with a host of clubs, both domestically and abroad, but now Real are trying to move ahead of the queue by offering the 28-year old up to £200,000 a week.
Faced with the loss of both Rüdiger and Andreas Christensen, who is stalling on his own new deal as well, Chelsea are stepping up their search for defensive reinforcements, with Atilla Szalai of Fenerbahçe that latest name to be linked with a move to West London.
He has been labelled the Hungarian Virgil van Dijk after impressing for his country during this summer’s Euros.
