It has been revealed that Arsenal wanted to sign Sergio Ramos this summer.
The former Spanish captain was a free agent after Real Madrid decided not to extend his 16-year stay with them, and one of the clubs interested in signing him were the Gunners, with reports that a £280,000 a week salary was offered to him by the North London club.
Fortunately for them, he turned this down in favour of PSG, a decision which has since back-fired as he has yet to kick a ball in anger for the Ligue 1 club.
Having struggled with injuries during his last season in Spain, his fitness problems have continued in France, meaning that he has played just six competitive games in this calendar year.
Despite not appearing for them at all so far, it is estimated he has cost them US $4 million in salary since joining the club, and PSG are reported to be exploring options to terminate his contract early.
