Mikel Arteta wants Eddie Nketiah to stay at Arsenal.
The striker is in the fianl year of his current contract at the Emirates, and, as yet there have been no signs that he is willing to extend his deal at the Emirates. That means that he can begin discussions with foreign clubs in January and could even sign a pre-contract agreement with them.
He came close to joining Crystal Palace in the summer, with the two clubs having agreed a fee, but he was unable to agree personal terms with the South London club.
However, having seen him score in the Carabao Cup against Leeds on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup, Arteta is hoping he can be persuaded to stay with the Gunners, saying that “I regard him really highly”.
Nketiah was almost guilty of one of the worst misses of all time when he miskicked with the open goal at his mercy but his blushes were spared when the ball trickled into the net.
