Arsenal are scouring Brazilian striker Arthur Cabral who currently plays for Swiss club FC Basel.
But they face heavy competition for the 23-year old, with Spurs, Everton, Leeds United and Brighton among the clubs who have had him watched. Leeds were considering making a move for him in the last window, but were not convinced he would get a work permit because he was playing in the top flight of Swiss football.
Cabral has scored 20 goals already this season.
The Gunners are in the market for a new striker next summer. Alexander Lacazette is into the fianl year of his current deal and is not expected to be offered a renewal/ And the club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be about to enter the final year of his deal as well.
And the Brazilian also suits the age profile of the type of player the club is now seeking to recruit, with the emphasis on youth.
