Long-term Chelsea target Niklas Süle could be available on a free transfer next summer.
Now 25-years old, the German international is now in the final year of his contract with Bayern Munich, and they have been unable to tie him down to a new deal.
That means he will be available to leave at the end of the season with no transfer fee involved, and he can start negotiations with foreign clubs from January.
Strengthening his defensive options remains a priority to Thomas Tuchel, specially as the future of Antonio Rüdiger remains up in the air.
He is in the same contractual situation as Süle, and ahs been linked with a host of clubs, including Bayern, although the German champions have sought to downplay these rumours in the past week.
However, it is not beyond the realm of possibility to suggest that Süle may swap Berlin for London next summer, with Rüdiger heading in the opposite direction.
