Chelsea have entered the race to sign Uruguayan forward, Darwin Nunez, who is also on the radars of both Manchester City, Inter Milan, and PSG.
Since joining the Portuguese club from Spanish side Almeria in January 2020, Nuñez has scored 20 gaols in 52 appearances in all competitions. Six of those goals have come in just eight games so far this campaign.
He particularly caught the eye last week with a brace against Barcelona in the Champions League.
He has four full caps for his country, and has scored twice for them.
One of the attractions of Nuñez is his versatility -he can play either as a centre-forward, an auxiliary stroker or wide on the left.
Whilst Chelsea broke their transfer record to bring in Romelu Lukaku this summer, they are looking for further forward options, with continuing dissatisfaction with eh sporadic output of Timo Werner.
One hurdle, though, which may stop Chelsea making a move for Nuñez is the prohibitive size of his release clause which is rumoured to be €150 million (£128 million).
