Inter Milan are expected to reignite their interest in Chelsea wing-back Marcos Alonso.
The 30-year old has long been on the Serie A’s wish list, and seemed certain to depart Stamford Bridge in the summer, at one point even being offered in part exchange for Romelu Lukaku.
However, despite Ben Chilwell, a £45 million signing from Leicester appearing to be the designated candidate for the left-back role, it was Alonso who was first-choice in the opening games of the season under Thomas Tuchel.
Chilwell got his first start of the season against Southampton on Saturday, and enjoyed a mixed afternoon, conceding the penalty that enabled the Saints to equalise, but redeeming himself with a fine goal in his side’s 3 -1 victory.
Alonso’s has left than two years left on his current contract at Stamford Bridge, and the chance to earn one more big money move is potentially of great interest to him, especially as Chilwell appears the heir apparent in West London.
