Arsenal are keeping tabs on Raheem Sterling’s situation at Manchester City.
The England international is admired by the Gummers manager Mikel Arteta, who worked closely with him during their time at the Etihad together.
And he knows that Sterling may not be happy with his current situation under Pep Guardiola where he is no longer a first-team regular, only coming on as a substitute midway through the second-half of their top-of-the table clash with Liverpool on Sunday.
Sterling is into the final 20 months of his current contract at City, and although talks have begun with the player about extending his stay with them, progress is reported to be slow.
One sticking point in the negotiations are his wage demands. He currently earns £300,000 a week and is looking for an increase to £350,000 before committing his future to the Manchester side.
Whether Arsenal are prepared to match his financial aspirations remains to be seen.
