It has emerged that Chelsea tried to sign PSG and Brazil defender Marquinhos in the last transfer window.
The London club were looking to strengthen their central defence and were ready to offer up to €100 million (£85 million) in order to reunite the Marquinhos – Thiago Silva partnership that proved to be so successful during their time at the French club together.
However, despite the signing of Sergio Ramos on a free transfer form Real Madrid, neitherMarquinhos nor PSG were interested in pursuing the matter any further.
The player feels very settled in Paris, and the way that they strengthened the side in the summer, bringing in the likes of Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and, of course, Lionel Messi, has convinced him that he is in the ideal place to have his footballing ambitions realised.
For their part, PSG regard him as an integral part of their team under the management of Mauricio Pochettino.
