Lautero Martínez who was linked to both Arsenal and Spurs during the summer window is close to agreeing a new deal with his current club Inter Milan.
The 24-year old is being asked to fill the gap left by the now departed Romelu Lukaku at the San Siro.
Lukaku was sold because of the need to make cost savings at the La Liga champions, but, having brought in £97.5 million from the disposal of the Belgian striker, it was decided there was no need to sanction the exit of the Argentine international as well.
And, in case, the North London pair, or any other clubs, are interested in reviving their interest in future, Inter plan to deter them by slapping a minimum £85 million release clause for any club wanting to talk to him.
And Spurs needs may be reduced with the news that harry Kane may be ready to sign a new contract with them after all.
