At one stage during the summer, it seemed certain that the Gunners were going to make a move for the Lyon playmaker, having also been linked with the French international the previous summer instead.
Instead, having also flirted with a move for Leicester City’s James Maddison, the Gunners signed Martin Ǿdegaard permanently instead, the Norwegian having spent the second-half of last season on loan with them from Real Madrid.
Despite that, manager Mikel Arteta is keen to add more flair to his side, but now it looks increasingly unlikely it will come in the form of Aouar.
Instead, the French international insists that his future remains with Lyon, his home town club, claiming that it is his dream to play Champions League football with them.
If that is his aspiration then he had better stay away from the Emirates, because it will be sometime before that is hosting Champions League football again.
