Timo Werner is being linked with a return to the Bundesliga and Bayern Munich.
The 25-year-old German international was signed by Chelsea from RB Leipzig last summer, but he has struggled for goals in the Premier League, and has seemed short of confidence. And, now with the summer signing of Romelu Lukaku for a club record fee, he is no longer a guaranteed starter under compatriot Thomas Tuchel.
Bayern are now managed by his former Leipzig boss, Julian Nagelsmann, and reports from Germany indicate that the pair keep in regular contact.
Other reports indicate that Werner could form part of a swap deal with Leroy Sané heading the other way to Stamford Bridge.
Also 25, Sané moved back to Germany from Manchester City last summer, but he has failed to impress at the Allianz Arena, and has struggled for consistency.
Tuchel though, continues to regard him highly.
