Former player Marc Overmars remains coy on reports linking him with a return to Arsenal, either as a replacement for Edu or as a board member.
H is currently director of football at Ajax, and recently told the club’s TV channel that is happy where he is, whilst, at the same time admitting “I’ve been offered the opportunity to go elsewhere… and it’s always good to consider a move”.
Edu is under pressure following Arsenal’s poor start to the season although he gave a rare interview last week with an external journalist in which he explained the club’s transfer strategy and defended hs record at the club.
Nevertheless, he has been criticised for his inability to get rid of certain players at the club, his closeness to certain agents and for his apparent readiness to take a holiday in the middle of the transfer window when there was urgent pressing business to hand.
Both Arteta and Edu know they are on borrowed at the Emirates, unless there is an immediate pick-up in results.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
