Arsenal could be set to lose a potentially significant sum on Eddie Nketiah after failing to sell him during the transfer window.
The 22-year old striker had been set to move to Crystal Palace and a fee had been agreed between the two clubs. But the deal collapsed with when the player was unable to agree personal terms with the South London outfit, meaning that he will remain at the Emirates until the New Year at least.
And with the player now in his the final year of his current contract at the Emirates, and unwilling to commit to an extension, that means he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in January, when the transfer window opens again.
That would mean he could then leave for free next summer, earning himself a lucrative signing-on bonus into the bargain.
The news will cast a further spotlight on Arsenal’s failure to manage outgoings at the club.
