As deadline day looms, Thomas Tuchel has yet to decide what to do about Callum Hudson-Odoi.
With the England winger struggling for game time in West London, he may yet be allowed to join Borussia Dortmund on loan.
The Bundesliga side have made an approach for the 20-year old and now the manager has to decide what is best for his development – to stay and fight for his lace at Stamford Bridge, or to move to Germany where he can be guaranteed regular football,.
This is by no means the first time Hudson-Odoi has been on the radar of German clubs. Bayern Munich made three offers for him last summer, the last of which was a loan deal with an option to buy for £70 million.
In the event Hudson-Odoi was persuaded that his future lay with Chelsea and he signed a new deal on the back of it, but a year later, a change of scene is appealing to him.
