Everton have been linked with a move for Arsenal utility player Ainsley Maitland-Niles before deadline day.
The 23-year old was close to a switch to Wolves last summer, but the Gunners rejected a bid of £15 million. Appearing as a wing-back, he forced his way into the England squad, but his stated preference to play in midfield saw him become a fringe player at the Emirates.
He did move to West Bromwich Albion in January, where he was played in his preferred role, but he was unable to prevent them being relegated at the end of last season.
He came off the bench in the second-haul in Arsenal’s mauling at the Etihad on Saturday.
Alex Iwobi and Theo Walcott have made the journey from North London to Goodison Park in recent years, and now the former academy graduate may be set to follow in their footsteps, although iot is unlikely he will; attract the same sort of fee as last summer.
