Liverpool have made an opening move for Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma, who was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal at the start of the transfer window.
He has also been on the Liverpool radar for some time, and they wanted to sign him last January, but were unable to reach agreement with his club as to a fee.
Brighton are in no hurry sell the 24-year old, and having sold Ben White to Arsenal for £50 million last month, have no immediate needs of the money.
And, although he is under contract until 2023, talks have already started about extending the contract of the Mali international with Graham Potter’s side.
Nevertheless, although Potter believes that Bissouma is happy at the club, the chance to play under Jurgen Klopp and in the Champions League may prove too alluring for the defensive midfielder who has made a big impression in the Premier League, since signing from Lille for a fee of £18 million in 2018.
