Chelsea have been linked, along with RB Leipzig, with a move for Barcelona teenager Ilaix Moriba.
The 18-year old came through the academy system in Catalonia and broke into the first-team last season, making 18 appearances in all competitions and scoring once.
He has eight caps for Spain at under-17 level, but he has since switched his international allegiance to Guinea, the country of his birth.
However, although highly rated by Barcelona, he now finds himself in a invidious situation, He has one year left on his current deal at the club, and, despite being offered a new four-year deal, has refused to sign it. That is because he is demanding more money than the cash-strapped club are willing to pay him.
In order to try and strongarm him into signing the deal, Moriba has been told he will not play this season unless he agrees to the terms offered, and he was left out of pre-season training itself.
Now Chelsea could be ready to offer both layer and club a way out of the impasse, although they face competition from the Bundesliga side.
