Lucas Torreira is set to join Fiorentina on loan for the erst of the season.
The Uruguayan midfielder has an offer on the table from German side Frankfurt, and has also been linked with the Roe pair of Lazio and Roma, but it now looks like it is their Serie A rivals who have won the race for his services.
Torreira spent last season on loan at Atlético Madrid, but, having been a bit-part layer for Diego Simeone’s side, they did not take up their option to make the move permanent.
However, he has not settled in England, and has made it clear that he wanted to leave the Gunners for some time, especially after his mother died after catching Covid.
Mikel Arteta made it clear that he did not feature in his plans for the season ahead, and now he will be hoping that the move back to Italy can kick-start a career that has stalled in the past two years.
