Daniel James will not be loaned out by Manchester United this season.
Enquiries have been made about the availability of the Wales winger following the signing of Jadon Sancho, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists that the player remains in his plans, and started James ahead of Sancho in their Premier League opener against Leeds last weekend.
And, despite Sancho now having had a full week’s training at Old Trafford, James could be set to keep his lace when United travel to Southampton on Sunday.
Sancho had a 15 minute cameo as a substitute against Leeds, and also played an hour in a friendly match with Burnley that was played in mid-week, However, it is felt that after only making periodic appearances for England at the Euros, his fitness needs more work.
James was signed from Swansea City for an initial fee of £15 million two years ago, and has made 73 appearances in all competitions since then, scoring 9 times.
