Lucas Torreira is now back in England and was due to return to training with Arsenal.
However, the midfielder has been told by Mikel Arteta that he is not part of his plans for this season, and that he is free to find a new club.
Now his agent is in talks with the management of the club as he plots an exit for his client.
Reports in Uruguay indicate that negotiations are currently being conducted with three Italian clubs, two of whom are believed to be Roma and Lazio.
Torreira was granted an extended holiday break after playing for Uruguay at the Copa América in Brazil. Having spent last season on loan with Atlético Madrid, he had hoped for a chance to prove himself once more at the club he joined rom Sampdoria in 2018.
It now looks though as if his Arsenal career is definitely at an end.
