Marseille have made a late move to sign Ike Ugbo from Chelsea.
The striker had agreed personal terms with Belgian side Genk ahead of a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge, and all seemed to be set for the player who spent last season on loan with Cercle Brugge, netting 16 goals in 32 appearances.
However, Marseille may be about to hijack the deal by making a better offer, although the player has yet to make a definitive decision on his future.
Ugbo came through the Chelsea academy system, although he has never made a senior appearance for the first team. Instead he has undergone a series of loan moves which, apart from Cercle Brugg, having included Barnsley, MK Dons, Scunthorpe United, and Dutch side Roda JC.
Reconciled to not making it at his boyhood club, Ugbo is now ready to join the exodus through the Stamford Bridge exit door.
