Arsenal have offered Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira to Lazio.
The 25-yaar old was signed from Sampdoria in 2018 for a fee of around £26million, but, after a promising first season in North London he began to struggle, both with his fitness and the role in the team that he was asked to play.
He spent last season on loan with Atlético Madrid, although he largely had to be content with a place on the bench as Diego Simeone’s side won la Liga.
Torreira has also had problems in his personal life – his mother died of Covid, and he has previously indicated that he is homesick and wants to return to South America.
He still has two years left on his current contract at the Emirates, but appears to have no future under Mikel Arteta, and Arsenal are willing to sell him to raise funds to reinvest in the squad.
