Having failed to agree a deal to sign Granit Xhaka, Roma, undeterred, are being linked with another Arsenal player in Alexander Lacazette.
Swiss international captain Xhaka had seemed on the verge of a move to the Serie A ide and had even agreed personal terms with the, but Roma failed to match the Gunners’ valuation of him, and negotiations broke down.
Xhaka has since agreed a contract extension at the Emirates.
However, Jose Mourinho’s side may instead be ready to turn their attention to Lacazette as part of the repercussions of Romelu Lukaku’s impending move to Chelsea.
To replace him Inter Milan are set to bring in former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko from Roma, meaning that there is the need for somebody to replace him, with Lacazette regarded as a leading candidate.
The French international is in the final year of his current contract with Arsenal, and has been linked with a move away from them all summer.
