Newcastle have agreed a fee in excess of £20 million for Arsenal midfielder.
The 21-year spent a highly successful loan spell in the North-East last season, scoring 8 goals, including a record seven in successive Premier League goals.
He had been Newcastle’s top transfer target, but it was thought that a deal was beyond them after the Gunners indicated they were not interested in another loan for their academy graduate.
Instead, it seemed as if Willock was able to be reintegrated back into a squad that had problems scoring goals from midfield last campaign.
However, Newcastle manager Steve Bruce has managed to persuade owner Mike Ashley to put up the money that the North London club wanted to part with the player permanently.
The Gunners have decided that, with two years left on his contract, this is likely the best they can ger for a player who will most likely start from the bench in the season ahead.
