West Ham United want to sign Phil Jones from Manchester United.
They could though face competition to sign Jones who has become a forgotten man at Old Trafford.
The defender is the longest current serving player in United’s books, having joined them from Blackburn Rovers a decade so.
But he has only made eight appearances in all competitions over the past two season and United are ready to offload him, especially as they have now agreed a fee to sign Raphael Varane.
There have been suggestions that he will be allowed to leave as a free agent, with the club willing to cancel the remaining two years left on hs current contract.
And that means that Any club wanting to sign him could offer him an incentivised deal because there would be no transfer fee involved.
West Ham might just have the edge when it comes to acquiring his services because manager David Moyes already knows him from their time together at United.
