Arsenal appear to have edged ahead in the race to sign Tammy Abraham from Chelsea.
The Stamford Bridge club want to offload Abraham this summer, despite the fact that he was their top scorer last season, as they look to make room in their squad for a new striker, as links to Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski continue.
Both Aston Ville and West Ham are interested in signing him, but the £40 million valuation which Chelsea have slapped on him has proved a deterrent.
That valuation is also tricky for the Gunners, who need to trim their squad further t make more big money signings , having already signed Nuno Tavares from Benfica and Albert Lokonga from Anderlecht, and agreed a fee to bring Ben White to the club from Brighton.
However, the Chelsea board are now ready to let Abraham leave on loan this summer, provided that any deal includes an option to buy at their stated price.
Abraham is an Arsenal fan and idolised Thierry Henry as a boy.
