Chelsea have turned their attention to Bayern Munich and Polish striker Robert Lewandowski as hopes of being able to persuade Borussia Dortmund to sell Erling Haaland in the current transfer window fade.
Haaland has been their primary target as they look for new forward options, but with Dortmund refusing to part with him, they have shifted their focus to the current World Player of the Yea.
Lewandowski is reported to be open to a new challenge in the Premier League, having won all the trophies that he can in hs time with Bayern, and having broken Gerd Müller’s all-time Bundesliga scoring record last season, with 41 goals in the Bundesliga.
The Poland captain is under contract at the Allianz Arena until 2023, and Bayern are not thought ready to sell him as they begin life under new manager Julian Nagelsmann.
Nevertheless, Chelsea are ready to test their resolve with a £50 million opening offer.
