Manchester United are still hopeful of signing Eduardo Camavinga from Rennes in the transfer window.
The 23 year old is now into the final year of his contract with the Ligue 1 side, and has already indicated that he will not be signing a new deal with them.
That means he will become a free agent next summer, so and Rennes would prefer a fee for him than lose him for nothing. However, the club is well-backed financially so they will not be forced to selling him on the cheap.
Real Madrid are also heavily invested in him, and there are suggestions that Camavinga favours a move to Spain. However, their difficult financial situation – which has been made worse this week by the insistence of la Liga that they trim their budget more to comply with Spanish FFP requirements – means a move for him from the is unlikely.
United are reported to be ready to bide their time in the hope his fee drops as the transfer window moves into its final stages.
