Tottenham have made Southampton striker Danny Ings their number one summer transfer target.
Ings has one year left on his current deal with the Saints and has turned down the offer of a new contract with them.
Instead, he is hoping to test himself at the elite level again after injury blighted his career with Liverpool.
Since moving from Merseyside to the South Coast to join his boyhood club, Ings has scored 46 goals in 100 appearances for them.
Spurs want Ings to partner Harry Kane next season and are convinced that the pair can play together.
They have had a long-standing interest in the player, and Jose Mourinho was interested in making a move for him last summer, although, in the end, nothing materialised.
Kane though still wants to leave the club in the transfer window, with Manchester City his preferred destination, although Spurs’ chairman Daniel Levy is adamant that their star asset will not be sold.
