Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour has undergone a medical at newly promoted Norwich City ahead of a season-long loan move.
The Scotland international, whose involvement in the Euros was brought to a premature end after he contracted Covid, made just five senior appearances at Stamford Bridge since Thomas Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard as manager.
He is highly regarded at Chelsea, and very much seen as one for the future. However, with so many options ahead of him in central midfield, the loan, and the chance to play regular first-team football, is seen as a vital part of his continued development.
Rangers, where he began his career as part of their academy programme, were also interested in taking the 20-year old back on loan, but Norwich have won out because of the more competitive nature of the Premier League.
He has made 22 senior appearances in all competitions for Chelsea to date.
