Chelsea have made an initial bid for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.
The 20-year old striker is heavily in demand this summer, having scored 57 goals in 59 appearances for the Bundesliga side since joining them from Red Bull Salzburg at the start of 2020.
Manchester City have also been linked with the Norwegian international who is valued in excess of £100m, but it is Chelsea who have made the first move for him.
Timo Werner is inconsistent, and Olivier Giroud, despite signing a contract extension, has been linked with a move away form the club. Meanwhile, last season’s top scorer, Tammy Abraham, has been told that he is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, and is free to join another club for the right price.
Despite winning the Champions League last season, Thomas Tuchel has identified the need for a top striker to join the club if they want to mount a sustained league title challenge in the season ahead.
