Arsenal have made a bid for Italian midfielder Manuel Locatelli.
That is according to the CEO of his club, Sassuolo, who has confirmed that the Gunners are ahead in the transfer race to sign the 23-year old, although they must also compete with Juventus for hs signature.
Sassuolo have a meeting scheduled with Juventus to discuss the matter further, and given that Serie A players rarely join English clubs, they must be regarded as favourites to sign Locatelli, who has been one of the strs of Italy’s campaign at the Euros so far. The fact that Juventus can offer Locatelli Champions League football and Arsenal cannot, may also be a deciding factor.
At the same time, though, it has been revealed that Juventus are facing losses of £275 million (€320 million) because of the pandemic, and will need to sell some shares in the club to ease the financial burden on the club. That may limit how much funds they have available to invest in the transfer market this summer.
