Tottenham enter talks for Japanese defender

Manager-less Tottenham have entered talks to sign Japanese defender Takehiro Tomiyasu from Italian club Bologna.

The Japanese international, who is valued at £15 million, is valued for his versatility, because he can play either as right-back or as centre-half.

The 22 year old, who has 23 senior caps for his country., begam his career in his native Japan with Avispa Fukuoka, before securing a move to Europe with the Belgian club Sint-Truiden.

Bologna signed him for €9 million (£8 million) two years ago, and he ahs gone on to make 63 appearances for them, scoring three times.

Spurs had been interested in Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey but have been deterred from making a move for the former Chelsea plater after the South Coast side slapped a £35 million price tag on his head.

They are I the market for a new right-back this summer with Serge Aurier widely predicted to be on the verge of re-joining PSG.
