Arsenal are in talks to sign Benfica left-back Nuno Tavares.
Last week, Kieran Tierney signed a new long-term deal with the club, but the Gunners want a reliable back-up for the Scot, given his injury history.
Sead Kolasinac spent the second half of last season on loan with Schalke, and, although he has returned to North London, he would appear to have no future at the club.
21-year old Tavares made 214 appearances for the Primeira Liga side last season, including a brief five minute cameo as a substitute in the Europa League round of 32 tie against the Gunners in February,
Benfica want €12 million £10.3) million for the player, who is regarded as an attack-minded full-back, but Arsenal are confident that they can obtain him for less than that, with the player keen on the chance to move to the Premier League., with suggestions that Tavares has already agreed personal terms with his prospective new employer.
