Manchester United are ready to offer Jesse Lingard a new three year deal.
The 28-year old has one year left on his existing deal at Old Trafford.
The midfielder revived his career with a highly impressive loan spell in the second half of last season with West ham United, scoring 9 goals in 16 Premier League appearances, and helping them secure Europa League football..
They would like to turn that into a permanent deal, but are struggling both to meet the asking price for him of £25 million, and also to match his wage demands of £110,000.
But now United have decided to protect hs value by offering him improved terms of £130,000 a week, with the new deal also to include an option for a further year, a typical clause in many of their contracts.
Lingard has previously made clear his wish to return to Old Trafford and to fight for his place under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
