Manchester City are considering Antoine Griezmann as an alternative to Harry Kane.
Whilst the Englishman, along with Jack Grealish, remain top of their transfer wish list this summer, the high prices required to obtain both, combined with the reluctance of Tottenham to sell their main asset, has led them to consider other options.
One of them is Griezmann who Pep Guardiola has been a long-standing admirer, and may suit his system of playing with a false nine.
And the Catalan club’s financial situation may mean that they are open to part with the French international for the right price.
Now 30, Griezmann still has three years left on his contract at the Camp Nou, having joined then from la Liga rivals Atlético Madrid in a deal worth £108 million.
The World Cup winner is thought to be open to the idea of a move to another of the biggest teams in Europe, and the opportunity to work under Pep. His involvememt in the Euros came to an end on Monday night after France’s surprise defeat to Switzerland in the round of 16 following a penalty shoot-out.
