Former Tottenham defender Danny Rose is close to a move to newly promoted Watford.
The left-back made 214 appearances for Spurs altogether since joining them from Leeds in 2007, but after spending the second part of the 2019 – 2020 season on loan with Newcastle, he fell out of favour altogether in North London.
He did not play a single game for them last season and was not even given a squad number, leaving the club on a free transfer at the end of the season.
This will not the first time he has played for Watford – he had a short loan spell with them back in 2008 when he made seven appearances in the Championship.
Rose’s arrival means that Watford have given up hopes of re-signing Ashley Young. The former Manchester United captain has been offered a one-year contract extension by current club Inter Milan, and now seems set to stay in Italy.
