Roma are closing on a deal to sign Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka from Arsenal.
It comes after the Italia club increased their initial offer for the player from €15 million (£13 million) to €18 million (£15.5 million) including bonuses.
He is expected to put pen to paper on a four year deal.
By a happy coincidence, Xhaka is already in Rome training with the Swiss national team ahead of the Euros.
Since joining the Gunners in 2015 he has made 220 appearances for the club, where he has two years left in his current deal.
Now Arsenal must find a replacement with continued links to Rùben Neves at Wolves and Brighton’s Yves Bissouma, although Neves is more of a like for like replacement in terms of passing range and ability to dictate play from deep, whereas Bissouma is more of tough tackling defensive player.
Sheffield United’s Sander Berge is another name that has been reported in the press.
