Maurizio Sarri is set to be named the new Lazio boss.
He will be tasked with building a side capable of fighting for the title once more and also to compete with City rivals Roam, who now have Jose Mourinho in charge of them.
And he could be about to raid his former club Chelsea for Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
The England international scored 10 goals under Sarri and was on the verge of becoming a first-team regular when he suffer a serious injury in a post-season friendly that ruled him out of action for almost a year.
He spent last season on loan with relegated Fulham, and, although back at Stamford Bridge once more, would appear to have no future under Thomas Tuchel.
Lazio are expected to approach Chelsea for permission to take the player on loan initially, but with the option to buy at the end of the season for a pre-agreed fee.
