Southampton have begun talks with Liverpool over another loan spell for winger Takumi Minamino.
The Japanese international joined the Merseyside club from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020 in a deal worth £7.25 million after impressing during the Champions League, but he struggled to make any impact at Anfield scoring just 4 times in 31 appearances or Jurgen Klopp; s side.
He was allowed to join the Saints on loan in January in a bid for regular first-team football, and he responded with two goals in ten appearances for his new club.
Klopp has always insisted that his time with Liverpool will come, but now it looks like it may not be just yet.
With Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri also expected to leave Liverpool this summer, Klopp’s side may be short of attacking options for next season, especially if it is borne in mind that both Mo Salah and Sadio Mané are likely to miss the whole of January on African Cup of Nations duty.
