Spurs to appoint transfer guru

Tottenham are set to announce the appointment of former Juventus transfer chief Fabio Paratici later this week, even though they still do not have a permanent manager in place for next season.

At one stage it looked like he might be joining the club along with Antonio Conte, but talks with thee former Chelsea boss broke down because he did not get the required assurances over the transfer budget he would be given. Conte also wanted guarantees about the future of Harry Kane.

Paratic will be given the title of Director of Football,, and his remit will be to assist chairman Daniel Levy with negotiations and transfer deals.

His appointment suggests that Levy is ready to press ahead with rebuilding his squad, regardless of who his brought in as manager, and that whoever it is may not have much say when it comes to transfer targets.
