Arsenal set to complete first summer signing

Arsenal are set to conclude their first business of the summer window.

However, it will not cost them a penny as Mat Ryan is set to join them on a free transfer from Brighton, having spent the second part of last season on loan at the Emirates.

The Australian international, who grew up as an Arsenal fan, has already indicated how much he hoped that his stay in North London could be extended.

The Gunners had hoped to make a move for Brentford keeper David Raya, who they have been tracking for more than a year.

However, although the Spaniard had a £10 million release clause in his contract, that only came into effect in the event the club failed to gain promotion for next season.

Their victory in the play-off final against Swansea City on Saturday has made that null and void, so they have turned to Ryan instead.
