Bruno Fernandes is close to agreeing a new deal worth £200,000 a week with Manchester United.
The 26-year old Portuguese international is already under contract at Old Trafford until 2025 – with the option of a further year – but he is one of the lowest paid players in the squad, and United have wanted to reward him with a new deal befitting his status within the team.
Fernandes had initially put off signing any new deal until he was convinced of the club’s future direction under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but he has now seen enough to persuade him to put pen to paper.
United have the chance to lift their first silverware for four years when they meet Villareal in the final of the Europa League in Gdansk on Wednesday.
The club are looking to wrap things up before the Euros, with the midfielder set to double his wages to £200,000 a week.
