Chelsea have revived their interest in signing West Ham’s Declan Rice.
They are heavily linked with a move for the England midfielder when Frank Lampard was manager, but now they have turned their attention back to him,. And could be ready to try and tempt the Hammers to part with him by offering striker Tammy Abraham in part exchange.
Manchester City and Manchester United are both also interested in signing Rice.
Previously it had been thought that there were members of the Chelsea hierarchy reluctant to re-sign a player that they releasee from their academy as a 14-year-old, but those qualms now seem to have been set aside.
Chelsea’s hopes of signing Rice have been boosted by their qualification for the Champions League on Sunday, despite their loss to Aston Villa in the Premier League, thanks to Leicester slipping up at home to Tottenham.
West Ham have previously indicated they have no interest in selling him, but with the club needing funds because of the financial crisis caused by the pandemic, they could be forced to revisit hat decision.
