Manchester City are prepared to offer Raheem Sterling a new long-term deal.
There had been speculation that he might leave the club after a recent loss of form, but now there has been a change of heart as the club loos to revamp its forward line with the departure of Sergio Agüero this summer confirmed,
Sterling, like team mate Kevin de Bruyne, who signed a contract extension last month, is negotiating directly with the club, having recently changed his agent.
The England international, who is set to be named in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the Euros next week, has two years left on his current contract at the Etihad.
City have spent much of the season playing without a recognised striker, but they are being heavily linked with a move for harry Kane, should he become available, and it looks like Pep Guardiola means to adopt a more conventional tactical formation next season.
