Ligue 1 side Marseille are closing in on the signature of Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.
The 222-year old has been on loan with Hertha Berlin in Germany this season, although a broken metatarsal has brought a premature end to his stay with the German club, who have indicated that they are not prepared to exercise an option to sign him permanently.
He has a year left on his current deal at the Emirates, but there appears no way back for him under Mikel Arteta after the pair fell out over Guendouzi’s attitude both on and of the pitch.
He has had problems too during his time with Hertha, where his coach criticised him for diving too often in training and acting like an adolescent.
Now it looks like Marseille are ready to take chance on the talented but troubled player, ad they look to build a side capable of reaching the Champions League again.
