David Luiz is to leave Arsenal at the end of the season.
He is coming to the end of his contract and it has been mutually agreed that he will not be offered an extension. Both parties have therefore agreed it is best that they go their separate ways.
Now 34, he is becoming increasingly injury prone and his time with the Gunners has not been an unblemished success, with some high profile errors, whilst he has picked up three red cards during his time in North London.
On the plus side he played a significant part on the club’s FA Cup triumph last season and his ability to play out from the back is greatly appreciated by Mikel Arteta.
He is also a popular figure in the dressing room, but now he is the first figure who will definitely be departing the club this summer, but almost certainly not the last.
