Manchester United are considering a summer move for Atalanta centre-back Cristian Romero.
The Argentine is on a season-long loan from Juventus and has had an excellent season, helping the team reach the Champions League places.
Atalanta have an option to buy him for €25 million (£21.5 million) which they are expected to option, but they would then be free to sell him for a higher fee, something which would potentially interest them because of the financial difficulties they are facing because of the pandemic.
It is reported that the fee they will be looking for a fee of €40 million (£34 million) for the defender.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made improving his defence as one of his summer priorities, and Romero is one of the names shortlisted.
23-year-old Romero first moved to Italy with Genoa, before joining Juventus in July 2019.
However, he has never actually played for the Turin side, have returned to Genoa on loan before moving on to Atalanta.
